Nicole Johnson Zodiac: Aries Roots: Los Angeles, C.A. Inspiration: Barbara Cooke-grandmother and widow to singing legend Sam Cooke Strengths: Business savvy, enterprising mind Granddaughter to singing legend Sam Cooke, and related to singers Bobby Womack, Mary Wells, and Don Cornelius, Nicole was destined to become a part of the music industry herself. Traveling and touring all across the world with her parents a.k.a. international singing group “Womack & Womack” led to her desire to take a shot at performing. She and her siblings (children of Mary Wells) started a singing group called “Wells” and were signed to MCA Records. While promoting parties on the club scene, Nicole realized her earning potential and made a swift career move. Regrouping and relocating from Los Angeles to Atlanta at the age of 21, Nicole opened the infamous “Platinum House” night club and quickly became one of the most popular socialites on the scene. As the first and only black female club owner in her age group, Platinum House experienced overnight success and every supermodel, athlete, entertainer and wanna-be became permanent fixtures in what became Atlanta’s Studio 54. Exuding such strong business qualities at a very young age, Nicole was being pulled in many different directions as everyone presented her with several lucrative business opportunities. Some were worth it, and others were not. But this business woman knew she was an entrepreneur from the heart. She’s very matter of fact, and has an “I want it done yesterday” enterprising mind set. Her born survivor instincts allow her to make the first move, and win. These strong attributes gave her an edge, and she took all her contacts and made her next dream a success. Thriving on challenges and hitting each one head-on with effortless approach, she closed “Platinum House” and opened the doors to the ledoM Agency. It was almost as if she “clicked her heels three times” and rode the express elevator right to the top. At the blink of an eye, Ledom Agency quickly became one of the most reputable agencies of its kind. Ledom to this day represents world renowned make-up artists, wardrobe stylists, and hair stylists. Having worked with recording artist Mary J. Blige, Pink, and Ciara at the peak of their careers, and also Tyra Banks for three straight seasons on “America’s Next Top Model”, Ledom’s roster has grown in leaps and bounds with no plans on stopping anytime soon. When it comes to success, Nicole will tap every resource until an opportunity presents itself. Case in point, her business wheels keep on rolling as she and her grandmother, the widow of the late singing legend Sam Cooke are busy at work breathing new life to the Sam Cooke catalog. Everyday to Nicole is a new opportunity to elevate and take her career to the next level, and her tenacity for work makes her a legend in the making. If following in the footsteps of her talented family tree means amazing accomplishments will be made in her life, then Nicole is already close to fulfilling her family legacy. |
